A new report claims that Warner Bros want Henry Cavill to return as Superman in a film that “would essentially be Man of Steel 2”.
/Film say that apparently, “conversations are currently happening to get Cavill back as Superman,”
However, at the time of writing, Cavill’s return and Roven’s involvement in Man of Steel 2 are yet to be officially announced.
Cavill has repeatedly expressed his desire to return as Superman. However, the actor currently has a pretty packed schedule – what with working on The Witcher, Enola Holmes and The Rosie Project amongst others.
Cavill hasn’t played Superman since 2017 when he appeared in Justice League. We’re obviously not counting his role in the 2021 Snyder Cut of the same movie.
James Gunn also reportedly wants some DCEU action
A source told the outlet that “Gunn and producer Peter Safran are in talks with Warners for a mystery movie, possibly more, that Gunn would tackle.”
Safran is already on the DC books, having been a producer on Shazam! (2019) and its 2023 sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Furthermore, Safran also has producer credits on Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
When will we see the return of Henry Cavill’s Superman?
So, could Cavill return as Superman for Man of Steel 2? While we have no solid confirmation, it seems likely given the actor’s outspoken love for the role.
Cavill first appeared as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel. Since then, he’s also played the character of Clark Kent in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League.
We’re sure to let you know when more DCEU and Superman news arises.
