Call Of Duty Might Be Returning To Steam With Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could be coming to Steam, marking the return of the series to the platform.

The last Call of Duty game to release on Steam was Call of Duty: WWII back in 2017. Since then, Call of Duty games released on Activision-Blizzard’s PC launcher Battle.Net.

However, according to new artwork that was posted on Reddit, the new Modern Warfare 2 game could be coming to Steam. The artwork reportedly showed up on the bottom of pages for previous Call of Duty games.

The artwork shows an image of Ghost from the upcoming Modern Warfare 2’s cover art. It says “Explore the full franchise”, but not much else can be learned from the image. However, its existence on Steam in the first place could be hinting at a release on the platform.

If the game does make it onto Steam, it would be the first time since 2017. However, it’s possible that players can buy the game on Steam but still have to launch it with a different launcher.

Modern Warfare 2 Details

Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28th, 2022. Currently we have no confirmation that the game is releasing on Steam, so take this with a grain of salt. Regardless, it’s definitely a solid hint that Call of Duty could return to Steam.

We’re still waiting for a gameplay reveal, which some think could release in June this year. Sources say the campaign is a grittier take on Modern Warfare’s campaign from 2019.

Insiders also claim there’s a new “DMZ” mode coming, which is inspired by Escape From Tarkov. Warzone 2 is also expected to release after Modern Warfare 2 in 2023. The full map has reportedly been leaked, and classic maps like Terminal and Quarry will be points of interest on the map.
