Jeremy Renner still in critical care following New Year’s Day snowplough accident


Actor Jeremy Renner is apparently out of surgery following an accident with a snowplough over the weekend. His condition reportedly remains critical, meaning he is still in intensive care.

According to BBC News, Marvel actor Renner has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries while clearing snow outside his home in Nevada, US. His publicist Samantha Mast said that these injuries forced Renner into intensive care. 

She stated to US media on Monday 2 January, “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him,”

According to Mast, the Renner family is also, “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from [Renners] fans.”

How did Jeremy Renner’s snow plough accident happen?

Renner’s injuries come after clearing snow outside his home in Nevada. He was reportedly using his snowplough on New Year’s Day, which caused trauma and injury to his body. 

According to TMZ, the plough ran over one of the actor’s legs. A neighbour told the publication that this then caused major blood loss, forcing Renner to undergo surgery.

At this moment in time, he is thought to be the only person involved in the accident. However, BBC says that Washoe County Sheriff’s office will still be investigating the incident.

Previous to his accident, Renner tweeted about the sheer amount of snow at his Nevada home. He wrote in December that, “Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke.”

He also previously shared a video of himself driving. The caption reads, “Monday  morning Pre winter preparation couldn’t be more fun!!”

What has Jeremy Renner acted in?

Renner is well-known for starring as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s played the bow-wielding Clint Barton since 2011 when he first appeared in Thor. 

Outside of the MCU, the Oscar-nominated actor has credits in The Hurt Locker, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and also the newly-released Paramount+ series The Mayor Of Kingstown.
