These Classic Maps Could Be Returning In Battlefield 2042

Leaks suggest that several classic maps could be making a return in the third mode of Battlefield 2042, rumoured to be called ‘BattleHub’.

When Battlefield 2042 was announced back in June, developer DICE revealed that the game will have three modes of play at launch. There’s All-Out Warfare, which is your typical Battlefield multiplayer experience. Hazard Zone is yet to be revealed, but is described as an all-new, high stakes multiplayer experience.

The third mode that has caught most player’s attention is being worked on by support studio Ripple Effect Studios, previously known as DICE LA. The website reads that the game mode will be a “love letter to Battlefield fans and long-time players”.

At the EA Play FPS spotlight, Ripple Effect general manager, Christian Grass, confirmed that this new mode will bring back classic Battlefield maps in one form or another. He teases that we’ll have to wait a little longer until EA Play Live on July 22nd to learn more.

What are the classic maps coming to Battlefield 2042?

Previous leaks have suggested that the third mode will be known as ‘Battlefield Hub’. Supposedly, it’s a blend of old and new in an ultimate sandbox that lets players run wild on classic Battlefield maps and with weapons from the series’ past.

A new leak has suggested exactly which fan favourite maps might be arriving in Battlefield Hub. Reputed leaker, Tom Henderson, lists the following maps as contenders for the mode:

  • Metro
  • Locker
  • Wake Island
  • Siege of Shanghai
  • Arica Harbor
  • Caspian Border

While currently unconfirmed, that selection does make the most sense for the series. It takes a selection of favourite maps from each of the modern Battlefield entries, notably Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 and 4.

With Battlefield 2042 operating as a live service game, it’s also possible that more classic maps could come to the game later down the line. All will be revealed at EA Play LIve on July 22nd.

Which classic Battlefield maps would you like to see come to Battlefield 2042? I’m personally hoping for another rendition of Noshahr Canals. Let us know your suggestions across our social channels.
