Sir Lewis Hamilton Helped Make Gran Turismo 7 Feel More Realistic

It has been revealed that the seven-time F1 World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton acted as a consultant on the upcoming Gran Turismo 7.

Sony and Polyphony Digital were eager to show off the impressive new features of Gran Turismo 7 last night. Featuring a staggering amount of cars and tracks, this epic new racer looks seriously impressive. Gran Turismo has always found that perfect niche between arcade racer and all-out simulator, and 7 seems to be the best equipped yet.

Amongst the high-octane action, it was quietly revealed that Lewis Hamilton is among the racing drivers whom Polyphony Digital consulted to get the game’s handling correct. It wasn’t explained how much input the F1 champion had, but it’s promising that the studio is consulting such talent.

Lewis Hamilton was recently snubbed of his potential eighth world championship when Max Verstappen took the controversial victory at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. Despite the devastating loss, Hamilton is still a more than capable driver.

Formula cars have featured prominently in Gran Turismo games before. Gran Turismo 6 famously had the Mercedes-AMG W08 spec car. Ayrton Senna’s iconic Lotus rocket from 1985 was also a popular drive for many. Hopefully, Gran Turismo 7 will also feature a few Formula spec cars for us to yeet around. Eagle-eyed fans may have spotted a few tracks from the F1 calendar, too. I spotted Austria’s Red Bull Ring as well as Belgium’s iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
