Back in 2013, at the DICE summit in Las Vegas, renowned film director JJ Abrams and Valve‘s Gabe Newell talked about Portal and Half-Life movies. Since then we received no information on this topic until March this year where the existence of both these films was confirmed by Abrams as he said “they are in development”.
On Wednesday, at Westworld red carpet event, IGN asked Abrams about both the projects and he replied that a meeting has been scheduled with Valve regarding this next week.

“We have a meeting coming up next week with Valve, we’re very active, I’m hoping that there will be a Portal announcement fairly soon,” Abrams told IGN.
He added, “We are having some really interesting discussions with writers, many of whom…once you said you’re doing a movie or show about a specific thing that is a known quantity you start to find people who are rabid about these things.”

There had been uncertainties about the projects earlier when Newell mentioned that he hasn’t received good pitches from the production companies of Hollywood yet. However, Abram’s recent comments gives us some hope that the movies are still in the making.
“As someone who loves playing Half Life and Portal, what’s the movie of this, it’s incredible when you talk to someone who just ‘gets’ it, it’s like, oh my god, it’s really the seed for this incredible tree you’re growing,” Abrams continued.
“I look forward to being able to talk about it and announce who’s working on it.”

Which actors do you think would be best suited for the roles? It would be incredible to have a Portal movie soon as it’s the perfect premise for a feature-length film.
