Deathloop Reviews Suggest It Might The Best Game Of The Year

Deathloop reviews are upon us, and the scores indicate that we might have a game of the year on our hands.

Deathloop has easily been one of the most anticipated games of the year. From the elite Arkane Studios, Deathloop follows up from critical hits such as Dishonored 2 and Prey. And after numerous delays, Deathloop is finally here.

It turns out that Deathloop might be one of the best games this year as it has received a myriad of stellar review scores. While I doubt anyone thought Deathloop was going to be bad, I don’t think any expected this level of praise.

IT’S GAME OF THE YEAR, IT’S GAME OF THE YEAR, IT’S GAME OF THE YEAR

Deathloop dumps you in a never-ending time loop. On the party island of Blackreef, you must figure out how to assassinate eight targets to break the loop and escape for good. While an understandable premise, IGN reviewer Matt Purslow claimed that they’d “never played a game like Deathloop before” in their 10 out of 10 review.

IGN wasn’t the only site to give Arkane’s latest full marks. Gamespot, VG247, The Sixth Axis and VGC all gave Deathloop an assortment of 5/5 and 10/10. GameByte also awarded the highest score, where we stated: “Even though we’re only just entering the Big Games Season, I am fully confident in my assertion that Deathloop is the best game of the year.

Most reviews highlighted the superb level design that was worked into the game time loop premise. Through different points in the day, enemy locations and schedules as well as environmental changes can effect your approach.

Jordan Middler from BBC The Social did point out his disappointment however that the game’s open-ended design didn’t work its way into the end of its story: “I wished that the illusion of creativity and variety in the kills presented in the early game was a viable option for finishing it.

One feature I can’t wait to try out is the invasion mode. One of the game’s targets can infiltrate your game, and hunt you down. However, in an awesome twist, this character can be controlled by another player. You can even reverse the rolls and invade someone else’s game yourself.

With all the reviews scores spinning round my head, I cannot wait to get my hands on Deathloop. With Prey and Dishonored 2 being among some of my favourite games, Deathloops looks to be a brilliant expansion on them. We may truly have the game of the year on our hands.
