Analyst reveal which year the PS5 is going to release

The new Nintendo console – tentatively titled the NX – seems to have been carted around the rumour mill for a long time now. It’s a strange situation as Nintendo have hinted at the console’s development, the machine has been openly discussed but there still hasn’t been any form of official announcement from the Japanese company.

It appeared that the console would be revealed at the Tokyo Games Show this week but with the event so close and no leaks of the reveal so far, it looks increasingly unlikely.

A journalist for the Wall Street Journal commented on Twitter that if news of the console is not divulged next week then the “should be some updates by early October.” Check out Takashi Mochizuki’s tweet below:

In an interesting turn of events, Mochizuki also commented on the possibility of the launch of the PS5 in the near future. Yeah, PS5.

It’s not been long since the reveal of the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro but it seems that the industry is already speculating the true successor to the PS4 line. Damien Throng, who correctly predicted the two latest consoles believes that the PS5 will arrive in the second half of 2018. Mochizuki commented on Twitter about this too:

However, as exciting as this prediction seems, it would be downright luck unless Throng had a direct link to a source close to the top of Sony’s business chain. Even though Sony will be considering the development of a new console, they’re quite busy with two new machines that are attempting to build the Playstation community.

Any news of a console for release in 2018 seems a little too anticipatory. But, then again, if Throng was correct about the Slim and the Pro, he might strike it lucky a third time.
