It looks like Pokemon Go is going to get some more additions in terms of features in the near future. Developer of the popular augmented reality game, Niantic recently added the buddy system to Pokemon Go.

During an interview with The Wall Street JournalThe Pokemon Company executive Tsunekazu Ishihara said that Niantic is actually taking their time to add new features to the game such that they don’t overwhelm the new players.

The company is now planning add the player-vs-player battle system to the game.

Ishihara said, “Battling is a category that we do best at Pokemon, after all.”

“It’s important to really carefully consider any feature that may increase the difficulty and raise the barrier to entry for more casual users,” he added.

Ishihara, however didn’t comment anything about the trading system which is another feature which is expected to be added to the game. Niantic Labs CEO, John Hanke, back in July confirmed that the trading system was in works. He didn’t reveal any further detail such as the release date or how the feature will function.

On the other hand the multiplayer feature of Pokemon Go is also in the works for a long time. In an interview with GameSpot in July, Archit Bhargava from Niantic said that the early tests of the mode were already done and it looked promising.

He said, “The multiplayer aspect is still something we’re exploring, we’re still trying to figure out what’s the best way to do that.”

“So far we’ve learned that multiplayer battles are a lot of fun. When two people from different teams show up at a rival gym, if they collaborate and both have their Pokemon deployed to battle at the same time, they can take down a stronger gym faster,” he added.

“But we’re trying our best to rethink what the experience should be; what that real-world Pokemon experience should be like. Obviously we’re learning from Ingress, but it’s going to be a pretty different game. We have a vision for Pokemon, we’re gonna execute on it, but we’re gonna learn based on what the community reaction is.”

During the interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ishihara also talked about their plans to release Pokemon Go in South Korea and China. One of the major problems in releasing the game there is the limitation of Google Maps in the countries.
