Two Petitions Lobby For Johnny Depp To Return To Pirates Of The Caribbean

There are now two petitions calling for Disney to allow Johnny Depp to return to Pirates of the Caribbean.

A lot of fans apparently don’t want to see another Pirates film without the franchise’s biggest star. So much so that a four-year-old Change.org petition has been brought back. The petition calls for Depp to return to his role as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

This is in addition to another petition, called “Justice for Johnny Depp”, which aims to help Johnny Depp clear his name. The first petition currently has over 800,000 signatures, and the second has almost 600,000.

Johnny Depp Petitions – The Trial

Both petitions have been recirculating during Depp’s $50 million defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. She wrote an op-ed in 2018 for the Washington Post in which she talked about domestic abuse. Depp claims the article destroyed his career and caused him to lose roles, including Jack Sparrow.

However, Depp claims he would not return to play the character in a sixth film. He confirmed he would reject any offer to take part in another Pirates film, and states he lost $22.5 million for Pirates 6. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Disney’s biggest film series, and the last film came out in 2017.
