Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars with Ewan McGregor reprising the role in the upcoming Disney+ series. However, did you know that Obi-Wan Kenobi not actually voiced by McGregor in the Clone Wars animated series?
Star Wars is in an excellent position right now. With The Book of Boba Fett just wrapping up and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is on the horizon. While the films may be sunsetted for now, there’s a lot for fans of the galaxy far, far away to enjoy.
With the Kenobi series set between Episode III and IV, viewers will have a little bit of catching up to do. Of course, most fans will get away with watching the movies once again. However, if you want to be truly up to date, you’re going to want to stick The Clone Wars on.
Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars
The series focuses on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story at several points, embellishing his backstory and relationships with characters that you may never have heard of. The Mandalorian shows pull from The Clone Wars arcs at several points, so it’s definitely worth catching up on. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see some fan favourite characters return in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show!
The Clone Wars version of Kenobi certainly sounds a lot like his live action counterpart. However, he’s not actually voiced by the McGregor that we know and love. Instead, American voice actor James Arnold Taylor lends his voice to the role. He also voices a few other characters in Clone Wars, including Plo Koon and other background characters.
You’ll be hearing a lot more of Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, too. He’s returning to voice the character in the imminent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
