Just in case you were ever starting to get the idea that Capcom didn’t absolute hate your guts, here they come again to infuriate and enrage their fans.
Capcom is lucky that they have a legacy of some beloved franchises, because there’s no way a new dev could get away with some of the BS they hit us with.

They’ve done a lot of boneheaded things over the years, but this one really takes the cake. This is the type of decision that gaming satirists would use as an over-the-top example of something that no publisher would ever actually do, yet here we are, with Capcom actually doing it.
It was one thing when items or levels that existed at the launch of a title were held hostage via paid DLC, and even worse when they were actually stored on the disc you just purchased and had to pay extra to unlock certain features… but now it’s reaching critical mass. Capcom wants you to pay to unlock the ENDING of a game.

Granted, Dead Rising games aren’t necessarily known for their M. Night-esque endings, as reddit user Holty12345 points out:
Every Dead Rising Game has had multiple endings, A,B,C,D,E,F etc. Each one is done by a different criteria. But A is always finish all the main cases in time and be at the location your supposed to be when time runs out (all cases in dead rising are time based over 72 hours in game)
Getting ending A always unlocks ‘Overtime’ mode, in which the story is continued for a little bit. Its not a lot of content normally, but it rounds out the story.
But now it’s looking like Ending A, the overtime mode, the “true” ending, could be a paid add-on. Brutal.
On the plus side, you’ll be able to experience the other endings for the normal cost of admission, but seriously Capcom? Hopefully the heaping piles of bad press they’re getting from this will encourage them to say it was all just a joke or a misunderstanding. We won’t be holding our breath.
