Despite Transformers being one of the most beloved franchises of all time, its live-action movies have left a lot to be desired. They’re actually pretty terrible, but the newest addition to the lineup is shaping up to be something pretty special.
Bumblebee, which will get its wide release over the Christmas period, has impressed both critics and fans, with even the most long-standing and die-hard Transformers obsessives being blown away.

The movie is apparently so good, it’s Rotten Tomatoes score has surpassed the only and only 1990s classic, The Shawshank Redemption.
At the time of writing, Bumblebee is sitting at an incredible “certified fresh” rating of 94%, with a “want to see” rating of 92%.
The Shawshank Redemption has a “certified fresh” rating of 91%.

Now bear in mind, once Bumblebee gets its wide release this number is likely to drop. In fact, it’s almost definitely going to drop, but for now let’s enjoy one last final plot twist of 2018.

Critics’ reviews for the movie are second to none, with pretty much everyone unanimously agreeing that this is the best Transformers movie we’ve ever been blessed with.

Johnny Oleksinski of the New York Post reviewed it saying: “There are real emotional stakes, an appealing 1980s look and some genuinely funny jokes.”
imagine going to see Bumble Bee with the expectations of it being 2% better than shawshank redemption

Us Weekly‘s Mara Reinstein is equally as enthusiastic, writing: “Bumblebee works because it dares to tap into a new dimension in this franchise: Legitimate emotional reactions. We humans like to refer to them as feelings!”
