The Star Wars franchise has spawned waves of fan favourite characters, from all corners of the galaxy. Since the saga began in 1977, we’ve seen Sith Lords, Jedi, Bounty Hunters and more cross paths to bring balance to the universe. Fans are currently getting their latest fix with the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, but aside from the iconic hero, who really is the best Star Wars character ever?
This calls for a ranked list of the top ten Star Wars characters eve as we settle the battle between light and dark once and for all.

10. Poe Dameron
Before Oscar Isaac became Moon Knight, we enjoyed him as the excellent smuggler-turned-pilot, Poe Dameron. On the page, Dameron is your average cocky hero, but Isaac’s performance elevated Dameron to a whole new level. It’s a shame that Finn’s dynamic with Rey and other key characters wasn’t fully fleshed out, but we’ll always have the good times with his best friend Finn.
9. Rey
Yes, we know, we know. The Rise of Skywalker may have left a sour taste for many Star Wars fans, but Daisy Ridley’s courageous Jedi still had plenty of brilliant moments overall. From duelling Kylo Ren amid the Starkiller base battle to challenging Master Luke himself, Rey’s journey gave fans a new hero to believe in during the galaxy’s darkest moments.
8. Qui-Gon Jinn
Liam Neeson’s turn as a Jedi Knight may have been short-lived, but the character has become a legend in his own right over the years. Thanks to a wealth of expanded lore that spanned comics, animated films and games, Qui-Gon Jinn has forged a considerable path in the Star Wars universe.
Fans of Qui-Gon Jinn can expect Obi-Wan Kenobi’s master to return in the near future too.
7. Lando Calrissian
The galaxy is full of rambunctious characters, but Lando Calrissian has always been one of the coolest. No matter how deadly the situation might be, Lando is always ready to lay on the charm. For a price of course.
Billy Dee Williams brought the role to life in the original trilogy, but Donald Glover’s take on Lando introduced him to a whole new generation of Star Wars fans. Hopefully, Glover will be tapped next to get another moment to shine in the future.
6. Princess Leia
Inspiring a generation of women across the globe, Carrie Fisher’s stubborn yet valiant Princess Leia became one of the Rebel Alliance’s greatest heroes. Leia flipped the ‘damsel in distress trope on its head by ensuring the safety of the Death Star schematics and fighting on the frontlines in Return of The Jedi. There will never be another character quite like Leia in the Star Wars canon.
