Sonos has launched a new voice control software with the voice of actor Giancarlo Esposito.
Giancarlo Esposito is perhaps best known for his role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He also starred in The Mandalorian as Moff Gideon and Far Cry 6 as Antón Castillo.
The actor was chosen for the software because his voice is familiar to US customers. The software aims to be a more private voice control method.

Giancarlo Esposito Voice – How Does It Work?
According to Sonos, the voice software was made “with careful recording, advanced processing and mastering. The voice is natural, unobtrusive, yet confident and engaging.”
It has been designed with privacy in mind. Sonos claims the product will not transfer commands anywhere to be listened to elsewhere.
Joseph Dureau, vice president of voice experience, said “One of the most natural ways to connect to your music is with your voice, but when we speak to our customers, we hear that privacy concerns mean many are choosing not to use voice control.”
Personally, I think having the voice of various death-dealing villains respond to your commands is an interesting choice. Esposito is definitely known for his more evil performances. More voices will apparently be added over time, but no one has been announced yet.
