Crysis 4 Is Officially In Early Development After Decade Hiatus

A new game in the Crysis series, Crysis 4, has finally been officially announced by Crytek after almost a decade since the last game.

The game was actually leaked by Chinese social media today ahead of the announcement, but now it’s official. A video has been released revealing the new game, but it doesn’t show too much.

More information can be found on the Crysis website. It reads, “Right now the game is in the early stages of development so it will be a while yet, but we wanted to bring you the news at this time as we are so hyped for the future, and to let you know that we will be listening to our community.”

“As development progresses we will release more details when we can. But in the meantime, know that our dedicated and talented team is working hard to bring you a truly next-gen shooter.”

Crysis has been dormant for a while, other than re-releases of the first three games. The last new game in the series, Crysis 3, was released in 2013. Since then we’ve had remastered versions of the entire original trilogy, including Switch versions.

The original was infamous for being a game that determined how good your PC was. But this marks a totally new step in the franchise, and it will be interesting to see where it heads.

Furthermore, Crytek are looking for new developers to join the team. It wants people who will “truly shape the future of the franchise”.
