Elon Musk’s Neuralink Brain Computers Are Nearly Ready For Human Trials

It appears that Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain computers are on track to begin human trials before the end of 2022.

When Elon Musk isn’t developing sentient cars or launching them into space, he’s working out how to turn the human race into cyborgs. The Neuralink is touted as a Fitbit for your brain, promising to give users almost psychic powers. Early prototypes of the device are about the size of the coin and are wired into a brain using a robot.

The idea behind the device is to aid those with disabilities. It’s thought that the Neuralink could help cure blindness, deafness, and plenty of other neurological conditions. In the future, it could even connect to your smartphone and play music without the need for headphones.

The Neuralink has already been tested on animals. Footage shows that a monkey fitted with the device is able to play a game of pong using its mind. Now, it seems that Musk is ready to take the project to the next step with human clinical trials.

A new job listing for a Clinical Trial Director has been spotted at Neuralink, indicating that project is developing quickly. The description reads: “As the Clinical Trial Director, you’ll work closely with some of the most innovative doctors and top engineers, as well as working with Neuralink’s first Clinical Trial participants! You will lead and help build the team responsible for enabling Neuralink’s clinical research activities and developing the regulatory interactions that come with a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.”

So, it sounds like the human trials will be happening sooner rather than later. As for when the Neuralink will be available commercially, we have no idea. I’m betting it will be several years off, though. It certainly sounds like an episode of Black Mirror.
