Battlefield 2042 Beta Is Reportedly Still A Few Weeks Away

The Battlefield 2042 beta is supposed to start in September, according to an earlier announcement, and a new rumour has speculated it could arrive towards the end of the month.

Battlefield 2042 has been under some scrutiny for a lack of communication on the run up to release. Other than its gameplay reveal back in June, EA has only released small snippets of what’s to come. Last month a technical playtest took place which kept participants under NDA. However, that didn’t stop us from getting a look at some leaked footage.

Now, despite the lack of info coming from EA, industry insider Tom Henderson has reported that the Battlefield 2042 beta will launch on September 22nd.

WORTH THE WAIT?

The Battlefield 2042 beta will arrive just four weeks before the game’s full launch on October 22nd. However, while the wait may be somewhat concerning, there are some potential reasons for its lateness. With the Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha wrapping up just last week, a beta is on its way, running from September 10th to 20th.

With Call of Duty being Battlefield’s biggest competition, it would make sense that EA wants to be the only source of attention on its beta weekend. However, it’s been a month since we covered the worrying silence of the game’s marketing, and despite story details releasing, we still know very little.

The official Battlefield Twitter account did joke about the lack information.

With 128-players lobbies on next-gen and PC, the largest in the franchise, a beta period will be crucial to a hopefully smooth launch. Battlefield 4 was notorious for long waiting times and unstable servers when it first launched back in 2013.

Now that dates are beginning to circulate, hopefully EA will officially announce the beta soon. However, as Battlefield 2042’s release gets closer, it’s a little worrying that we know so very little about the game. One of 2042’s three pillars, Hazard Zone, is still yet to be unveiled.
