Nintendo May Merge Into A New Company

Turns out that not all is well with Mario’s kingdom. Nintendo is actually open to the idea of a merger or even an acquisition. This would have came as a shock years ago but the steady decline of sales with the Nintendo Wii and the Wii U, Nintendo is in trouble. Recently, the president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata was interviewed through a Japanese outlet known as The Nikkei where the news broke on just how bad Nintendo is in at the current moment.

Nintendo has been in trouble waters with their recent console releases. The Wii sparked up interest in motion control gaming though it dwindle down in sales and with the release of the Wii U, Nintendo is certainly not banking any money from the new hardware. Really, only the 3DS has been making decent amount of sales and that’s not going to help keep Nintendo afloat.

During the interview, Satoru Iwata was asked about the overall Nintendo name and company with Mr. Iwata stating the following.

“We should abandon old assumptions about our businesses. We are considering M&As as an option,” Iwata says. “For this reason, we’ll step up share buybacks.”

We’re unsure of just how likely Nintendo ends up merging but for the mean time we’ll keep you posted.
