NASA Wants To Launch Nudes Into Space To Attract Aliens

NASA scientists are apparently planning on launching pictures of naked humans (nudes) into space to attract aliens.

Supposedly, doing this will send an invitation to aliens asking them to respond. The hope is that it will lure them in and garner a response.

However, the project, called “Beacon in the Galaxy”, will have to hope the aliens aren’t turned off by unsolicited nudes. If I was an alien, I’m not sure I’d want that to be my first impression of the human race.

The pictures are reportedly drawings of naked men and women next to a depiction of DNA. The humans are waving on the drawings, which I guess NASA thinks is more inviting.

Nudes in Space

The BITG project aims to send a message to alien civilisations, wherever they might be. Scientists seem to think this is our best chance to make contact with extra-terrestrial beings.

However, this isn’t the first time nudes have been sent into space. The Pioneer plaques sent into space in the past also had drawings of naked humans attached. They’re still out there somewhere today.

All in all, this is an effort to send a binary-coded message into space. Scientists believe a binary-coded message is the best chance we have at being understood by any aliens that happen to be loitering around up in space. We’ll have to wait and see if it works.
