The Last Guardian wasn’t present during Sony’s media briefing at E3 this year, nor did it make an appearance at Gamescom yesterday. So you’re thinking it would have to make for some type of announcement at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) right? Think again.
So a little background information first; The Last Guardian is the next video game installment from developers Team Ico. Team Ico, has brought out two incredible video games for the PlayStation 2 known as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
Five years ago, we’ heard of another game in the works from the team known as The Last Guardian. The same feel and tone from Ico and Shadow of the Colossus seemed to be present and with both games holding a huge cult following, The Last Guardian was bound to be a massive hit.
The only problem is, the game is still in development. Eurogamer managed to get a comment from Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida about the game. When asked if The Last Guardian will be present during this year’s TGS, Yoshida confirmed that the game will not be making an appearances.
So when will we see it?
When we are ready. I cannot confirm any timing because we are waiting for it to be in a state where we are happy that this is the game. We have a certain time frame in our mind, and the team is making great progress, but still not to the point that we can say that, here you go.
So this PlayStation 3 exclusively has likely been moved onto the PlayStation 4 making us wonder just how the game has progressed since we first saw it half a decade ago.
