Here’s Everything Coming Soon to Age Of Empires 4

Microsoft has revealed the planned content for Age of Empires 4 in a roadmap detailing the next few months.

Age of Empires 4 is Microsoft’s latest big RTS title, and it’s only going to get bigger. An official post outlined the roadmap, with content planned for Winter 2021 and Spring 2022.

This roadmap doesn’t mention specific fixes, but the post dives into much greater detail about what you can expect to see. I’ll summarise the biggest new features coming in each part of the roadmap.

So What’s Coming?

The Winter update will feature over 100+ balance updates, mini-map adjustments and bug fixes. It’ll also update the Chinese dynasty UI and introduce in-game player scores.

Spring 2022 is set to introduce UGC creation tools, which is exciting for the more creative-minded players out there. It’ll feature more balance updates and bug fixes as per usual, but also add the highly-requested “Patrol” feature.

Ranked seasons will also start next year, which is big news for the competitive players out there. These seasons will last 12 weeks and reward players based on performance. And the post promises even more to come, including Global Build Queue and tweaks to A.I difficulty.

Patch 7879 has just been released, which introduced performance fixes and system updates. The coming updates seem much bigger in scope and should give Age of Empires players plenty to get stuck into.
