Hasan Banned From Twitch Over Use Of ‘Anti-White’ Racial Slur

Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker has been banned from Twitch, allegedly for the use of the term ‘cracker’ which is supposedly deemed as ‘anti-white racism’.

Hasan is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers on the platform, regularly pulling in an average of 28K viewers. He’s a left-wing political commentator, often weighing in his opinion on dramas both big and small.

The streamer was banned in the early hours of this morning shortly after he ended one of his streams. During the broadcast, Hasan was involved in a debate with his chat regarding the use of the term ‘cracker’ as an anti-white racial slur. The streamer is convinced that this is exactly why he was banned, saying on Twitter, “yes. it is for exactly what you think it is. anti white racism for using the term “cracker.”

According to Dexerto, Hasan had been involved in the debate surrounding use of the word for the last few days. In a previous stream, he said, “Stop crying about this f*cking term. Recognize the person who’s calling you a f*cking cracker is literally powerless. Sorry, it’s just the truth.

“They’re doing it as someone who has been historically oppressed, blowing off steam. You can see it’s infantilizing or whatever the f*c*k, but that’s reality.”

What is Twitch’s response?

Prior to Hasan’s ban, two of his chat moderators were banned indefinitely from the platform after using the term in chat. “Absolutely insane that Twitch banned two of my mods for using the word cracker,” Hasan writes on Twitter. “One of is black and the other is brown. Does twitch actually believe cracker is a slur?”, he questions.

It certainly appears so, although Twitch hasn’t yet provided an official statement regarding Hasan’s ban. Its community guidelines define hateful conduct as: “any content or activity that promotes or encourages discrimination, denigration, harassment, or violence based on the following protected characteristics: race, ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious medical condition, and veteran status.

“We will take action on all instances of hateful conduct and harassment, with an increasing severity of enforcement when the behavior is targeted, personal, graphic, or repeated/prolonged, incites further abuse, or involves threats of violence or coercion. The most egregious violations may result in an indefinite suspension on the first offense.”

This is the third time that Hasan has been banned from Twitch. His last offense was in 2019 when he was banned for seven days. It’s currently unclear how long Hasan will remain banned for.
