The Game Awards 2018: God Of War Beats Red Dead 2 For Game Of The Year

The Game Of The Year award this year went to the one and only God Of War, the 2018 PlayStation exclusive that absolutely blew fans away and smashed sales records for Sony.

The announcement came as a bit of a surprise, as it seemed Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 was going to be the sure-fire win.

The Rockstar title picked up the awards for BEST AUDIO DESIGN, BEST NARRATIVE and BEST PERFORMANCE, but the adventures of Arthur Morgan were bested by Kratos and friends for the knockout round.

Twitter had a lot to say about the matter, with lots of users praising the decision of this years’ judges.

“Red Dead Redemption 2 was expected to be good, but God Of War completely destroyed all our expectations. That’s why it won,” tweeted one fan.

Another added: “Like this jut feels right. Red dead won all the awards like best performance and narrative, but somehow, god of war was still the best game of the year.

“Because despite how impressive red dead is, god of war is the best. It just makes sense. Somehow. Lol.”

Not everyone agreed though, with RDR2 fans claiming Rockstar had been “robbed” of the title.

Are you happy with the result?
