DriveClub making Progress and Launch Date “in the weeks to come”

Many have been wondering what happened to the DriveClub title that was supposed to be released alongside the PS4 last year.

Recent reports show that DriveClub is doing a lot better than before, and Evolution Studios is moving forward regardless of the recent layoffs.

News spread like wildfire and many have wondered what will happen to the projects, especially the much delayed DriveClub.

SCEE has recently provided a statement to the public stating that they:

“would like to make it very clear that the development of DRIVECLUB on PS4 is going from strength to strength. The announced studio changes across WWS yesterday have not affected the development of DRIVECLUB or the DRIVECLUB team, which has always had great direction and continues to do so.

“We have full confidence that the game will deliver on its PS4 promise to be the first truly socially connected racing title and we are very pleased and excited by the calibre of work from Evolution Studios.

“The progress being made on the game is spectacular. So we’re looking forward to sharing an update on development, release date and videos of the game in action. We thank you for your patience and assure you, it will be worth the wait.”

Sony began a “focused restructure” to three of its UK studios just yesterday, where an unknown number of employees were laid off. Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Cambridge, and SCE London Studio we’re the ones who we’re hit with the layoffs.

Later on, it was made known that the Game Director of DriveClub had left Evolution Studios for personal motives not related to the layoffs. SCEE has confirmed that, “DRIVECLUB does have a Game Director at the helm who we will be revealing very soon.”

We hope to hear more of good progress for Sony’s DriveClub game, and keep checking back for the announcement of the launch date coming soon.
