DICE has released a new story trailer for their upcoming game in their Battlefield franchise. Something bad has happened in the Pacific and a squad is stuck on aircraft carrier blind and then it kind of goes from vague to nonsensical. Mystery is a good thing to have to make the audience want to know what is going on, but I’m not sure how well that works in a game about shooting bad guys. We do have to have some idea about why we’re shooting them, even if it’s just they attacked us first.
I’m sure there’s a thread that connects everything reasonably, but for a trailer meant to highlight the story of the single player campaign I couldn’t honestly tell you what it was about after watching it. There’s a female squad member and she apparently is suspected of lying about something. Maybe Battlefield should stick to its spectacle trailers. Action is still pretty nice.
Battlefield 4 is coming out on October 29th for PS3 and all other current gen platforms. It will come to the PS4 on November 15th in North American and on November 29th in Europe.
