Apple is discontinuing the iPod over 20 years since the first product was released to the public.
The first iPod came out in 2001, and it was one of the most notable innovations in music technology at the time. Now, iPods have been discontinued entirely. The iPod Touch is no more, marking the end of a long line of products.

Apple Discontinues iPod – Statement
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said “Music has always been part of our core at Apple, and bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the way iPod did, impacted more than just the music industry — it also redefined how music is discovered, listened to, and shared.
“Today, the spirit of iPod lives on. We’ve integrated an incredible music experience across all of our products.”
Nowadays, the iPod has been eclipsed by the iPhone and other music products. It makes sense that Apple would discontinue the iPod, since newer products can do everything it can and more. Still, it’s a bittersweet ending for fans of the classic music player.
The iPod was a major step towards the music playing landscape we have today. It was a great option for those looking to listen to music on the go, and it was one of Apple’s biggest products.
