6 Upcoming PS3 Games You Can’t Miss


The age of the PS3 is nearing its final desitnation. Our faithful gaming companion for so many years is finally coming to the end of its life span. But we take heart in the fact that the incoming games on the PS3 that are slated to be released in a span of few months promise to be the best ever that have graced the console.

Compiled here is a list of 6 upcoming PS3 games that hold such a promise and the ones that you should not miss when they come out on the stands. Let’s have a look.

Most of us don’t need an introduction to GTA V. It is ‘the’ game we have been waiting for, for a long time now. For those few who do need one, here goes – Developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar games, GTA v or Grand Theft Auto V is an upcoming open world action adventure game, the fifteenth game in the GTA series overall. The game is the first major in the series after the 2008 GTA IV; and features the continuation of the fictional universe that was introduced in the game. The game is slated to release on September 17, 2013.

GTA V is touted to be the biggest open world game yet. It is the first in the series to feature three playable protagonists and the storyline will primarily focus on ‘the pursuit of the almighty dollar’. GTA V is programmed to improve upon every aspect of the previous game in the series, the GTA IV. The world is bigger and includes beach fronts, mountains, wilderness, a sea area, a military base and suburbs. The game includes a full-fledged ecosystem and any of the three protagonists can be used to explore the world and undertake numerous non story-based tasks.

With so much hype surrounding it and the given track record of the series, this is one game you should not give the miss.

One from the house of Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is an upcoming historical action adventure open world video game; the sixth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and a sequel to the 2012 Assassin’s Creed III. The game is scheduled for an October 29, 2013 release in North America, an October 31, 2013 release for Australia, a European release on November 1, 2013 and a Japanese release on November 28, 2013.

Assassin’s Creed IV features three main cities: Havana, Kingston, and Nassau along with 50 locations to explore- both land and naval. With fewer restrictions on the players, the open world feel will be enhanced in the game. As opposed to its predecessor, the world opens up sooner in the game. The hunting system that had been incorporated in Assassin’s Creed III has been retained in the game and allows the player to hunt  both on land and in water. The multiplayer also makes a return in the game, but it will only be land based.

The Assassin’s Creed series has made its own the genre of the historical action adventure. The new installment in the series looks great from all aspects and is definitely a game you can’t miss.

Developed by  EA Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 4 is a first person shooter video game that is slated to be released on October 29, 2013 in North America and Brazil, October 31, 2013 in Australia and November 1, 2013 in Europe. It is the thirteenth installment in the series and a sequel to the 2011 Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 4 possesses many tweaks and upgrades, compared to the previous games in the series. The heads-up display has been tweaked and is less cumbersome as a result. the mini-map and the main game screen have also been modified to depict three colors to identify allies, enemies and squad mates. As an enhancement, players can now use dual scoped weapons and mark enemies and targets on the map. The single player campaign makes the use of vehicles. The multiplayer aspect of the game contains three playable factions- U.S., China and Russia.

The games in the Battlefield series have always been known for their great graphics and engaging multiplayer. Definitely one PS3 game to try out on release.

Developed by Polyphony digital as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Gran Turismo 6 is an upcoming sim racing video game. The sixth game in the series, Gran Turismo 6 is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of 2013.

All the cars and tracks from its predecessor, the Gran Turismo 5 will be featured in the newest installment of the series. The total car count has been totaled at 1200 at launch. In addition, thousands of custom wheels and aerodynamic parts will also be available. There will be seven new locations, with nineteen new layouts; post release DLC will make fresh cars and tracks available .

With so much interesting new enhancements to the already popular series, GT 6 will be a game to watch out for.

Also a PS3 exclusive, Beyond: Two Souls is an upcoming interactive drama action adventure video game, developed by Quantic Dream. The game stars Allen Page and Willem Defoe and is set for release on 8 October 2013 in North America, 9 October 2013 in Australia and 11 October 2013 in Europe.

The game is the second effort from Quantic Dream in the area of cinematic genre of video games after Heavy Rain. As a deviation from Heavy Rain, the game does not make the use of the PlayStation Move controller. The script for the game is around 2000 pages long. The storyline of the game is centered around questions about what happens after death and features psychological, thriller and spiritual elements. In the words of the game’s producer, players might be able to know “what lies beyond” after playing the game.

Quantic Dream dazzled us with the Dark Sorcerer tech demo during E3, 2013. Beyond: Two Souls, most likely, will do nothing less. One game definitely not to give a miss at all costs.

Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal and released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Batman: Arkham Origins is an upcoming video game; the third installment in the Batman: Arkham series and a successor to the 2011 Batman: Arkham City. The game is slated to be released on October 25, 2013.

The storyline of the game is set 5 years before that of Batman: Arkham Asylum and follows the adventures of a younger and less experienced Batman. The game is set and presented in the third-person perspective and focuses primarily on the various abilities of Batman and his use of various gadgets. The game also features a fast travel system that allows batman to summon his plane, the Batwing. There is lso a multiplayer element present in the game.

Judging by the trailer and the associated promotion that has been done for the game, we can safely say that Batman: Arkham Origins will be one gem of a game from all aspects. Don’t miss this one.
