Writers Guild Awards Announces 2014 Video Game Nominees

You more than likely have heard about the Writers Guild Awards and with that the obvious choices for nominations are those for television and film. However, it may come to a surprise that video games have their very own category and today we’re finding out the 2014 nominations for outstanding achievement in video game writing.

The nominations were selected through The Writers Guild of America in which these titles are thought to have brought out the best overall writing in video games of 2013.  There are a total of five video game titles nominated and they include the following:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Batman: Arkham Origins
  • God of War: Ascension
  • The Last of Us
  • Lost Planet 3

There are a few rules and regulations in which a particular video game can even receive a nomination. For starters, the video game must have been released between December 1, 2012 and November 30, 2013. Writers attached to the video game title must also have a membership to the WGA Videogamer Writers Caucus.

Last year Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation won the outstanding achievement in video game writing with the script written by Richard Farrese and Jill Murray. This year the winner will be announced on February 1st 2014 but in the meantime, what you do you think of the nominations, are there any video games you would have like to have seen nominated?
