Woman Claims Elden Ring Has Made Her Husband Violent

Content warning: This article contains descriptions of domestic abuse.

Elden Ring has brought up some discourse over on reddit, and it’s not the good kind. In fact, it’s probably the worst kind of discourse that could possibly be brought up. We’ve marked points of the article where you should be wary, but please stop reading if you feel yourself becoming uncomfortable.

The reddit post in question reads:

“I won’t tell you what the game is because I fear it may inspire others to purchase the game but I will say it is a game frequently talked about online. For those who want to know, it is a game that has the same last word as Lord Of The Rings but is from partially the writer of A Song of Ice And Fire Series.”

Did Elden Ring incite violence?

Later in the text she states the following, and it’s here that we recommend a great amount of caution. If talk of emotional and physical abuse is a trigger to you, please keep yourself safe and do not read on.

Our son is begging him to take a break to watch him play soccer and our daughter is also begging him to pay attention but he just yells at them to stay out of his way. I also tried to get him to take a break but he won’t do it. I accidently tripped over the power cords and the console came unplugged yesterday. My husband won’t believe its an accident and for the first time in our marriage, he slapped me claiming I ruined the game. I had to resist striking him back but I did tell our kids we were going to a friends house.”

Now, it’s important to note and recognise that it’s extremely unlikely that Elden Ring has caused the rise in violence. Rather, it likely brought out an existing violent streak in her husband or brought to the forefront his tendencies. We hope that the woman who posted about this horrific event is safe and able to find a safe space for both herself and her children, away from the abuse that her husband has inflicted upon her.
