Ubisoft Has Officially Killed Off Far Cry 5’s Boomer The Dog

One of the best characters in Far Cry 5 was Boomer the dog. Boomer was always on hand to help you with your missions, always wagging his tail, and always ready to follow you into combat. Boomer was 100% the goodest boy.

Unfortunately, the death of Boomer has been confirmed by Ubisoft, making it canon in the world of Far Cry.

The next instalment in the series, Far Cry New Dawn, was recently unveiled to the world, and it’s set 17 whole years after the events of Far Cry 5.

In New Dawn, nuclear war has broken out across the globe, meaning that even if Boomer somehow lived to be 17+ years old, he definitely wouldn’t have survived nuclear bombs.

Confirming the sad news, Ubisoft stated: “You know, it’s 17 years after Far Cry 5. We considered for a while having maybe a descendant of Boomer at the new pet, but we wanted to go for something fresh.

“But no, 17 years…if he was a baby or a pup in 2018, 17 years later he would be old. It was a rough world for 17 years.”

I’m not crying, you are.

Twitter has gone into serious mourning over the news, with lots of people paying their respects to Boomer, the good boy.

Boomer will be getting a replacement in Far Cry New Dawn (if you can call it that.) Your canine companion when the new title releases in February will be Timber, who likes to ride in the car.

RIP Boomer.
