Maguire, who is 46, and Dafoe, 66, first appeared on screen together in 2002. 19 years later they starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home, breaking the record for the longest career as a live action Marvel character. And yes, I too was surprised to learn Tobey Maguire is 46.
The pair now share a Guinness World Records title after overtaking Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. Jackman starred as Wolverine back in 2000 with Stewart playing Professor X. Their last appearance was Logan in 2017.
Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe are record breakers
Maguire and Dafoe may not keep the title forever, though. Some Marvel mainstays could end up lasting longer, particularly since the MCU is only getting bigger and bigger. Characters like Thor could end up claiming the title if they don’t meet the same fate as some of Marvel’s other mascots. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the future of the MCU.
For now though, Maguire and Dafoe can share the title after their excellent performances in No Way Home. Dafoe in particular stole the show as the iconic villain Green Goblin, cementing him as one of Marvel’s best villains ever.
No Way Home has already broken records, including most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours. According to Guinness World Records, the trailer racked up 355.5 million views globally. The previous record holder was Avengers: Endgame at 289 million.
