In a feat likely to surprise even the most ardent of haters, the Uncharted movie has overperformed at the box office in its opening weekend.
The Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg video game adaptation caught a lot of flak upon reveal, mainly for the casting choices made in regards to Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg. Yet despite this, the movie has charted (heh) with a $51.5 million box office opening weekend. That puts Tom Holland in the top three box office gains along with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Uncharted movie was critically mauled and not greatly loved, but audiences seem to disagree with those opinions. Personally, I thought the movie was serviceable but forgettable, bolstered mainly by the chemistry between the two leads. Still, I hope the movie continues to do well so I can see where they may go with a sequel.

Our reviewer described the movie as doing “a fantastic job of marking out its own territory while remaining true to its source material. You’re not getting a retelling of the stories we know and love- it’s most certainly a new chapter for the series. But it’s a new chapter that I sincerely hope we see more of in the future.”
Uncharted stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as Jo Braddock and Antonio Banderas as Santiago Moncada.
