Sony is doing a fantastic job on selling their PlayStation 4. Though a recent interview Eurogamer had with Sony Computer Entertainment Boss Andrew House, shows that Sony is looking to aim their attention with those who picked up the Nintendo Wii.
Andrew House spoke with Eurogamer and revealed that the Nintendo Wii owners may be their prime target.
Our big opportunity is to welcome back an audience much earlier in the lifecycle that possibly bought into the Wii previously.
Andrew continues on saying that the those who picked up the Nintendo Wii very well might have skipped completely the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Sony is already seeing an interest in the Remastered edition of The Last of Us purely because there were gamers who skipped the PlayStation 3 console and have yet to play through the game.
I hesitate to say this because I know committed gamers may roll their eyes about it, but there’s an opportunity with some of the remastering or re-imagining from PS3 franchises that will potentially find an audience that hasn’t played them in the previous generation because they skipped that generation.
Sony has also made mention of wanting to go back and pick back up their classic video game exclusive characters. We could very well see characters like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Jak & Daxter along with others, reappear during the PlayStation 4 console lifecycle.
We’re only just getting into our stride with people who now have been playing for 10, 20 years, who have a nostalgia factor, who want to see those franchises come back and be reinvented.
