Holiday season is coming. With it comes a host of games which have been in development for long. The PS4 reveal and the subsequent slated release has shifted the attention to the upcoming games slated for release in the holidays. Here is a list of upcoming games which you should not give a miss this season.
1. Call of duty: Ghosts
Fans of the Call of Duty series are eagerly awaiting the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts. The tenth installment in the series, the game is scheduled to be released for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and PS4 on November 5, 2013.
The launch of the latest Call of Duty game will coincide with the launch of eighth generation consoles in the market. The full reveal of the game will take place along with the reveal of Microsoft’s next gen console on May 21. Infinity Ward is being assisted by Raven Software and Neversoft in the development of the game.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is being released after the completion of the Modern Warfare story arc after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The game seems to be the first in a sub-series and a new story is being introduced for the same. The teaser that has been released grabs attention. Definitely worth a try.
2. Battlefield 4
The thirteenth installment in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 4 is an upcoming first person shooter published by EA and developed by DICE. It is slated to released in Fall 2013 and has been confirmed for the next gen consoles along with the existing platforms of PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
There has been several improvements in the game from its sequel Battlefield 3. New gameplay elements have been included like target tagging, the use of vehicles and dual scoped weapons. The game’s heads-up display has also been rebooted. It now consists of two sections- the lower left-hand corner features a mini-map and compass for navigation, and a simplified objective notice above it; the lower right includes a compact ammo counter and health meter.
The multiplayer aspect of the game consists of three playable factions- U.S., China and Russia. The ‘commander mode’, last seen in Battlefield 2142 has also been included. Promises to be a juicy one. Let’s see.
3. Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V, as we all recognize simply by by the name, is an upcoming open world action adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar games. The fifteenth installment in the GTA series, the game is a continuation of the fictional world that is the main ingenuity of the game.
The new game in the series promises to be much more than its predecessor, GTA IV. Many things and features have been modified and revamped in the new game of the series. Mention here may be made of the iFruit, the in-game mobile phone that was introduced in GTA IV. The features of the phone have been modified.
The mobile phone is mainly used for activities and can also be used to access the in-game internet. There will be a “vibrant and fun” economy system. You should and most probably will play GTA V when it reaches the stores. Happy gaming.
4. Saints Row IV
Saints Row IV is also an open world action adventure video game being developed by Volition, Inc. and published by Deep Silver. The fourth installment in the Saints Row series, the game is slated to be released on August 20, 2013 in North America followed by a worldwide release three days later for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The storyline of the game is a continuation of the story in the previous three titles of the series, the last being Saints Row: The Third. The leader of the Third Street Saints, the character the player controls has now become the President of the United States. The fictional city of Steelport is the city of the world that comprises of the game and some elements of Washington, D.C. will be added as a re-design. Fans of the series must definitely give it a try.
5. The Last of Us
Developed by Naughty Dog as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, The Last of Us is an action adventure survival horror video game. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 14, 2013.
The storyline of the game is based on the actions of the two principal characters Joel and Allie as they try to survive and make their way through a post apocalyptic United States. The player controls Joel while the character of Allie is controlled by the AI. The game uses third-person view and will involve gun fighting and melee combat as well as a cover system. Definitely worth a try for fans of the genre.
6. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
The sixth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is an open world action adventure game published by Ubisoft and developed by Ubisoft Montreal. Although the game is a sequel to Assassin’s Creed III, the storyline of the game predates the other games in the series, meaning it is a prequel story-wise.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will enhance the open world feel of the player and will provide more freedom in terms of exploration. Also as a new aspect, a ship named Jackdaw has been added to the game which the player will captain. A new underwater component has also been added.
These are just a mention of the few things that has been added to the game. Fans of the Assassin’s Creed series must definitely try their hand at this brand new upcoming game of the series which promises to be much more than its predecessors.
