Scarlett Johansson Reportedly Getting $15 Million For Black Widow Movie

The last few years have seen a seemingly never-ending slew of comic book-inspired movies, and the trend doesn’t seem to be dying down.

First came the main comics, then the smaller ones and now the spin-offs, but one move that people really want to see is the standalone Black Widow title.

Black Widow is a seminal character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and reports suggest that her standalone movie will earn actress Scarlett Johansson a huge $15 million for the role.

The Hollywood Reporter, notes that Johansson’s salary upgrade for the movie “equals what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth earned for playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in this year’s Avengers: Infinity War.”

It’s also what Hemsworth and Evans each got for appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers 4, which obviously isn’t out yet.

A $15m pay is a massive step forward for Hollywood, which has been heavily criticised in the past for ‘underpaying’ female actors when compared to their male co-stars.

To put the money into perspective, Robert Downey Jr. reportedly cashed in half a million dollars for his role in the first Iron Man movie, going up to a $50 million pay cheque for his role in the first Avengers.

Johansson appears to be doing it backwards, reportedly getting paid “about a low-seven figure salary for the first Avengers movie in 2012″ and now rising up to $15 million for her first standalone movie staring as Black Widow.

Details on the film are few and far between, but people are pretty hyped to see Johansson taking centre-stage as one of the best female stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
