If you’ve got to free up harddrive space before adding a new game, you won’t have to make as many sacrifices this time around because it has been revealed that the filesize for Resident Evil 7 isn’t all that large.
In a day and age where games will tip the scales at dozens and dozens of gigs, it’s nice to see that Resident Evil 7 is only going to take up just over 20gb according to the files in the EU Playstation store. It’s still not a tiny amount, but for a major AAA release, it could be a lot worse.

It’s unclear at this time how they were able to keep the filesize down. Whether it means there’s less content, better optimization, or some combination, we’ll know soon.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard comes out on January 24th, and aims to revolutionize the survival horror genre that it’s predecessors defined. Resident Evil games have bobbed and weaved over the past few versions, and many anticipate that this one will find solid footing.

They plan on taking things back to their horror roots, while also incorporating modern elements, all around it should be a great experience. There’s even going to be some returning characters, if you believe the source code…
