Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo Downloaded Over 1.5 Million Times

One of the most highly-anticipated games of 2019 is Resident Evil 2, the remade version of the 1998 survival horror classic.

Featuring everything you’d want from a 2019 title but with a serious hit of nostalgia thrown in, the game’s recently-released demo has fans chomping at the bit for the upcoming release.

It looks like the game isn’t just going to be one of the biggest of the year, but actually one of the biggest in Resi history, if the stats are to be believed.

The one-shot demo, which you had 30 minutes and only 30 minutes to complete, has already been downloaded by 11 thousand Steam users [via GitHyp].

Comparing this to the 2016 Resident Evil 7 Steam demo gives us a pretty clear indication of who’s ready to purchase the new game, as the RE7 demo saw a peak of just 4k players.

Bear in mind, this is just the Steam downloads, and doesn’t include those who downloaded the demo on their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. In total, it’s being reported that the demo has – at the time of writing – seen over a million downloads.

The demo has received incredibly positive reviews from players and critics, although only around 30% of players managed to reach the end of the demo before their timer ran out.

GameByte’s very own Brett Claxton managed though, and if you haven’t seen the playthrough then check it out below!
