Update: PSN Hacked?

UPDATE #3: Sony has posted an update to the PlayStation Blog, confirmedĀ “no personal information has been accessed.”

UPDATE #2: Apparently LizardSquad is not responsible for this attack.They are trying to take the credit.

It seems that Sony’s PlayStation Network might have been targeted by some hackers today, or at the very least by individuals that wanted to overload the server. Players have not been able to access their PSN accounts all day today and Sony has been working on trying to fix the issue. Sony has suffered a denial-of-service, commonly referred to as DDoS, attack.

Here is a update that was posted on the official US PlayStation blog about what is going on;

“Like other major networks around the world, the PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network have been impacted by an attempt to overwhelm our network with artificially high traffic.

Although this has impacted your ability to access our network and enjoy our services, no personal information has been accessed.
We will continue to work towards fixing this issue and hope to have our services up and running as soon as possible.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Sony has a maintenance update for PSN scheduled for tomorrow. Once any more information comes up, we will cover it here at PlayStationgang.
