Sony has said that the “cinematic mode” will allow all the existing PlayStation 4 games to be played on the PlayStation VR. The “cinematic mode” will create a five meter screen within a virtual space which will work as the display for playing the games.
Sony is already into developing virtual reality games. Until then, all the standard PS4 games will be rendered by the PSVR’s system software by creating the flat virtual space within a range.
A press release by Sony read, “Users can enjoy content on a virtual screen up to 225 inches (5 meters in width) at a distance of 2.5 meters.
In addition to this various other PS4 features such as Share Play and Live from PlayStation will also be available on PSVR. The users can even view movies within the virtual space created by the headset’s “cinematic mode”.
The release added, “Users will also be able to enjoy 360 degrees photos and videos that are captured by devices such as omnidirectional cameras on PS VR via PS4 Media Player, which will let them feel as if they are physically inside the captured scene.”
Sony also mentioned that there are around 160 virtual reality projects in development with the help of over 230 devolopers who are supporting PSVR.
Some of the games that have been already announced for PlayStation VR are – Star Wars Battlefront, Eagle Flight, EVE: Valkyrie, Headmaster, Rez Infinite, Wayward Sky, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, Tumble VR, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and PlayStation VR Worlds.
The much awaited Sony PlayStation VR is priced at $399 and will release in October this year.
