This Is Probably The Closest We’ll Get To Half-Life 3

Half-Life 3 is almost definitely the most desired game of all time. A sequel to the jaw-droppingly iconic Half-Life games is something that’s on the wish lists of almost every gamer in the world. Fans are so desperate for it that it’s even become its own meme – and that’s how you know things are serious.

Unfortunately it’s now the end of 2018 andHalf-Life 3 is still nowhere in sight. But before you strike it off your Christmas list this year, there might be something just as exciting on the horizon…

Xen is the final part of the Black Mesa aka Half-Life remake, but unlike the original Xen, it’s looking seriously amped up and ready for what PCs can now manage to run.

If you haven’t seen the trailer, check it out below and you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about.

Black Mesa’s Xen will feature entirely new content that’s completely original, and instead of lasting just 30 minutes as in the original, it’ll take around six hours to complete.

If you haven’t yet played it, I strongly recommend you do – especially if you’re a Half-Life fan. Also Xen isn’t yet out, you can download Black Mesa right now from the Steam store, where it’s in Steam Early Access.

As for Black Mesa’s Xen, it’s aiming to release on Steam in 2019. Writing on the Steam store page, developers Crowbar Collective say: “Our goal is to release Xen on Steam in Q2 2019,

“This will allow us to finish Xen to a place where the entire product is stable, smooth, and most importantly… fun!”

The trailer page also confirms the statement, saying: “To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Half-Life, the long awaited final chapters of Black Mesa are shown in motion for the first time! Xen is targeted for release in Q2 2019.”

Have you given Black Mesa a whirl?
