Microsoft’s Boss Praises Sony, They Did a “Nice Job with PS4″

In a recent interview, Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer has congratulated Sony for doing a nice job with the PS4. He told OXM that Sony has done a nice job defining the PS4, and he also praised Nintendo’s first-party software for being the best-in-class and then proceeded to give Sony  thanks for their “stick-to-it-iveness”

“When I think about their announcement, their clear focus on a customer, leading with the value proposition of what they’re trying to do, staying true to a vision, I think they’ve done a nice job in how they defined the PS4,” Spencer told the site.

Spencer also praised Sony’s commitment to continuously supporting creativity.

“[W]hat they’ve done with David Cage and Quantic Dream around Beyond [Two Souls] and Heavy Rain; they stay committed to franchises even if they don’t sell 10 million units, they’ll stay committed to things.”

About Nintendo, he said:  ”Nintendo, I think – and there’s some argument about this – that their first-party is such an amazing asset,” said Spencer. “Their first party studios and IP can lead what they do as a company and the platforms are almost in service to the IP – not in a bad way.”

Adding: “I think Nintendo does that as well as anybody in terms of hitting the franchises and having huge success with them.”

It’s nice to see some love in the industry. Things like this are very rare, when your rival comes out and praises you for your success. Let us know your thoughts about this gesture by Microsoft in the comments below.
