Mark Cerny is stepping away for a bit to focus on an indie video game project. Though he admits that the game won’t be much of an indie title as the project will be fully funded. Nevertheless, a new project has caught Mark Cerny’s eyes and that means we should get excited.
Mark Cerny has been more focused lately as the lead architect for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Though his video game roots go much further back. Mark had a hand in creating some phenomenal video games. Some of his notable works includes Kid Chameleon, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, God of War, Killzone, Knack and many, many more.
During the Develop Conference, Mark Cerny spoke with IGN revealing that he is focusing on an unannounced video game. While Mark can obviously work on big name titles and have a huge response to them, he is certainly interested in working with a smaller team.
During the interview, Mark mentions that it’s hard working on a project where you know everyone’s name. There are hundreds of people working internally and even more outside of the company. Furthermore, working on a small project with a close group will mean more freedom of how the game will shape up.
Currently, there is no word as to what this indie video game is about or the name of the project. We will of course keep you updated with the latest as we hear it.
