Little Polish Company named CD PROJEKT RED Now Worth Over $1 Billion Due To Witcher 3’s Success


The Witcher 3 was released on May 19, 2015 and received rave reviews from both the gaming press and gamers alike. The open-world-role-playing-action game captivated players as they hunted monsters from from the third person perspective of Geralt of Rivia.

The game’s developer CD PROJEKT RED which is based in Poland and publicly traded on the Polish stock market the Warsaw Stock Exchange recently released it’s financial report for the first half of the year. Although profits took a slight dip, the company’s total market capitalization is now over $1.3 billion dollars. The Group’s sales revenues and net financial result were dominated by continuing high sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and by the global release of the game’s second expansion – Blood and Wine.

CD PROJEKT RED made $82 million in the second quarter of 2016 and the company is also seeing a lot of success from their internal game sales platform, GOG.com which contributed $17 million (roughly 21%) of the groups second quarter revenues.
