Hideo Kojima and Sony Join Hands For a Console Exclusive PS4 Title

We reported yesterday that Hideo Kojima has finally left Konami after this employment contract with the company expired on 15th December.

Kojima has now formed his own independent studio called Kojima Productions and has officially signed a deal with Sony PlayStation which would see the studio’s first game being exclusively released on the PlayStation 4.

A key point to note here is that it’ll only be console exclusive and you might see a PC version of the same game releasing at a later date.

Sony confirmed that the game Kojima will be making for the PlayStation 4 will be a completely new IP and would follow a new storyline and feature a new character. Konami still holds licensing rights to the Metal Gear Solid franchise as well as the Zone of Enders franchise.

The game will also be using either a third-party engine such as Unreal Engine 4 or a completely new one since the engine used for developing Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain; Fox Engine, also remains with Konami.

Not many details are available right now regarding the game but Sony PlayStation’s Andrew House did make a rather cheerful announcement regarding this development –
