The past generation of video game consoles thrived with different video game genres. One of which was based around music with the help of Harmonix’s Rock Band and Dance Central. Although the bottom seemed to fell out from the music genre as a whole leaving Harmonix with a number of layoffs.
Recently at PAX East, Harmonix held a keynote address announcing that the development team plans on bringing back Rock Band and Dance Central to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We’re unsure if the latest console generation would spike up interest in the music genre again or if this will lead to failed launch. As of right now, Harmonix is still a development studio working on a Disney themed Fantasia title along with a FPS called Chroma.
