God of War director Cory Barlog has called out fans on social media after a rumoured info dump for the game didn’t end up happening.
One of the biggest rumours in gaming recently was that more information on God of War: Ragnarok was coming out soon. It was suggested that a release date would be announced last month. But with June over with, and no news, some players have lashed out at Sony Santa Monica for not revealing any info.
That prompted Cory Barlog to post about the situation on Twitter. He said “if it were up to me I would share all the information when I know about it, but it is not up to me. So please, be patient. I promise things will be shared at the earliest possible moment they can be.
“We make games for you, we get to make games because of you.”
God of War Isn’t Delayed
However, some fans were still unhappy with the lack of news. One said they “planned their whole year” around the game, while others demanded to know why it was taking so long.
When one person said the game must have been delayed, Cory Barlog replied stating that it hasn’t been delayed, it’s just not ready.
And Barlog later retweeted a post by Estelle Tigani, cinematics producer on the upcoming game. She said she was sent dick pics asking for the game’s release date, showing the bizarre lengths some people will go to to harass developers for info. In response, Barlog said “show some f*cking respect.”
This isn’t the only story about developers being harassed to come out this week either. Return to Monkey Island director Ron Gilbert is no longer posting about the game due to online abuse. He said “the joy of sharing has been driven from me” after he was attacked over the new game.
