Far Cry 5 Officially Confirmed by Ubisoft

What has been speculated, hinted at, leaked, and seemed inevitable, is now reality. Far Cry 5 has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft.

The open-world FPS series’ latest entry is expected to be released before the end of the current fiscal year, Ubisoft revealed just before their earnings call with shareholders and investors in the company. Their fiscal year ends on March 31st, 2018, so that’s a pretty big window, all we can say for now is that it’ll be here in less than a year, as long as everything goes according to schedule.

Other than that, we don’t have much else to say about it. The setting of the game, the location, the period in time during which it will take place, the main characters, it’s all still up in the air. However, Ubisoft did recently drop a hint prior to this announcement, which has lead to speculation that one of the franchises’ favorite villains could be making a return appearance somehow.

There is also speculation that it could be set in the Wild West, but it’s worth noting that the only thing that’s been confirmed by Ubisoft up to this point is simply that the game is in development and will be released in under a year. As always, we’ll keep you posted on any significant rumors, leaks, or official announcements that are sure to follow in the near future.
