We’ve reported in the past that there were classic Sony exclusives we would like to see revive and there seems to be a bigger push for the classics from Sony now than ever before. One of those games on top of every Sony fanboy’s wish is Crash Bandicoot. Finally, Naughty Dog spoke up on the manner of another video game or a reboot.
Naughty Dog’s community strategist Arne Meyer spoke with IGN in which he revealed news about a possibility of another Crash Bandicoot game and Jak 4.
It’s never off the table, It’s not too much time passing, but it’s the same issues we explored with the Jak game: Is it something that makes sense to us now? I mean, we still have people that worked on the Crash games in the studio. We never forget our past and it’d be great for nostalgic reasons. It’d be the same reason as why there isn’t a Jak 4: I don’t know if it’s playing to our strengths right now.
This seems like it’s good news for gamers who are looking to get a bit nostalgic but for the time being, another Crash Bandicoot game or continuing the Jak & Daxter series isn’t currently planned.
We’re very interested in seeing how Crash Bandicoot plays out as Sony no longer owns the series. Instead, Activision rightly owns Crash Bandicoot. Activision doesn’t seem to be up for sharing the rights for Crash Bandicoot either as there was a recent content going on from Naughty Dog.
Naughty Dog started a drawing content letting fans draw cover art for their video game series in which case they could win prizes. When fans quickly noticed that Crash wasn’t on the list and started to comment on the matter, Naughty Dog confessed that they asked Activision for permission to use Crash in the content but was ultimately denied.
