You never know who you might meet over Xbox Live– for these two, it ended up being their future spouse. Gary Davy and his fiancé, Kayleigh Hopgood, met online after she repeatedly killed him in an online match.
The two were playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when their story started. Kayleigh dominated Gary over the course of a match, so a frustrated Gary sent her a message.
Typically, the story would end here, no doubt with a rude message or threat, but believe it or not, the message was friendly.
It read “Please don’t kill me :)”. It’s a good thing Gary wasn’t toxic, or the two would have never gotten together.
Little did they know, that message would be the first interaction (other than Kayleigh killing Gary repeatedly) in a happy relationship. After the match, they continued to chat and started to play together. The two met up in real life in 2012 after a year of playing together and starting dating in 2013.
Gary proposed to Kayleigh last year. The couple have scheduled their wedding for August, 2017.
